Anti-Bullying Campaign Set Social Media On Fire – It Has To Stop!

There are kids and adults alike who are hurting; afraid to go to school and work because they fear they’ll be attacked. As parents, as citizens of the world we have an obligation to speak up for those who can’t or are to afraid to speak up for themselves. Our lives are all connected, when one child is hurt, we all hurt. When one parent cries ,we all cry.

As a mother I believe that I have a obligation to use my platform to bring awareness to issues that affect our communities. Martin Luther King had a dream that we are living today.

Let us all be the change we want to see in the world. Join our movement, ‘It Has To Stop Bullying’, on social media using the hashtag #ItHasToStopBullying.

Michigan boy, 13, kills himself after being bullied on school bus, mom says

A 13-year-old boy in Michigan committed suicide last month after being relentlessly bullied on his school bus, his mother told local news media.

Michael Martin, an eighth-grade student at Everett High School, died Jan. 25 at a hospital two days after he attempted suicide at his home in Lansing, the Lansing State Journal reported.

Martin was tormented on the school bus over his weight, glasses, and braces in the months leading to his death, his mother, Joanna Wohlfert, told the paper. Wohlfert said her son missed 33 days of school since September due to bullying.

Wohlfert told the paper she had reached out to the Lansing School District and the bus company that services the district, Dean Transportation, but both failed to investigate the alleged bullying.

“I know that some schools are overwhelmed with kids, but if you have a parent that’s reaching out to you, and trying to get help for their child, why wouldn’t you reach back?” Wohlfert told the paper. “Why wouldn’t you do something? He was going through a dark time and nobody cared. Nobody paid attention to him.”

9-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide: Bullying Has To Stop!

US B-6

A black 9-year-old girl in Alabama allegedly took her own life after facing relentless bullying and racism in class, according to reports.

McKenzie Adams’ relatives said she hanged herself Dec. 3 in her home in Linden, about 100 miles west of Montgomery, and was discovered by her grandmother, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Since the start of the school year, the fourth-grader had been the target of bullying at US Jones Elementary School, where she was teased over her friendship with a white male classmate, according to her family.

Her aunt, Eddwina Harris, said the group of students taunted McKenzie by telling her to commit suicide.

“She was being bullied the entire school year, with words such as ‘kill yourself,’ ‘you think you’re white because you ride with that white boy,’ ‘you ugly,’ ‘black bitch,’ ‘just die,’” Harris told the newspaper.

Harris said she’s speaking out about her niece’s death because she wants to promote anti-bullying.

“There are so many voiceless kids,” Harris said. “God is opening great doors for justice for my niece.”
