Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the world for those aged 15-24 years. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suicide takes the lives of over 38,000 Americans every year. With these alarming statistics, its superheroes like LaToyia Jones who unselfishly use their experiences to empower our young people to live; is what gives the world hope that things will get better.

LaToyia Jones is the founder of Alive on Purpose a non-profit organization that helps to prevent suicide among our youth by finding resources to help those that are struggling with anxiety, depression and other ideations. She found her purpose while struggling with her own battles of suicidal thoughts. Overcoming her circumstances sparked a flame within Jones to help the youth around Cleveland, Ohio through youth development and suicide prevention programs.

As a survivor of her own circumstances, Jones has dedicated her life to servicing the youth that struggles with mental issues daily. Growing up in an unstable household with her father missing in action; Jones thoughts of suicide ideations raised significantly, along with being bullied in school consistently as a teenager. Passion for her non-profit organization has become a pillar in her life and the Cleveland community.

Jones biggest event in her organization, the Him and Me Dance, grossed over 650 father and daughter attendees amongst 50 and more volunteers and hundreds of sponsorships and supporters; strengthening the bonds between these girls and their fathers.

As a philanthropist, Jones is a staple in the Ohio community that continues to give the youth a purpose to survive, purpose to grow, and most importantly, the continuous effort to have the courage to be alive on purpose
